Technical LIMP MODE

65 plate Ducato 130 with 278000 miles on the clock and when on song runs very well but drops in and out of limp mode almost at will. Always been a bit of a problem but now happens much more often. Seems to be that the engine is not re-generating as it should. Several garages, including main dealers, have not been able to resolve this issue - any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.
Also there are issues with the electrics, when you switch on the headlights the yellow warning triangle appears with messages like "check parking lights" "check glow plugs"

Odd things happening when switching headlights can be a general wiring circuit issue...

Happened to me in 1987... was a poorly fitted loom.. Accident repair in an XR3 ..
Of very poor quality
