From eLearnI recalibrated it, it went away. I drove for a few days and it's back. Any ideas please?
I found some info through Fiat confirming my car does not have the sensors in the tyres.
The vehicle is equipped with the iTPMS (indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System) which monitors the tyre inflation status thanks to wheel speed sensors. The iTPMS device is controlled by the braking system control unit, which uses the wheel speed sensors to detect the different rolling speeds of each tyre, and then, through a calculation algorithm, assume that there has been a change in its perimeter, signalling its deflation. Therefore, this "indirect" version does not include neither tyre pressure sensors nor a dedicated electronic control unit.
The system warns the driver if one or more tyres are flat (pressure decrease with respect to the value stored) with the switching on of the dedicated warning light, the acoustic signalling of the buzzer and the displaying of a warning message on the instrument panel, where provided.
The system calibration (reset) is made by pressing the "iTPMS RESET" button, located in the left control panel.
The Reset procedure must be carried out:
each time tyre pressure is modified;
when even only one tyre is changed;
when tyres are rotated/inverted;
when the space-saver wheel is fitted.
The iTPMS is active for speeds above 15 km/h. Under special conditions (e.g. car loaded asymmetrically on one side, towing a trailer, damaged or worn tyre, fitting the space-saver wheel, fitting snow chains, fitting different tyres on the axles) the system may give false indications or be temporarily deactivated.
With the system temporarily deactivated, the failure warning light flashes for 75 seconds then remains on constantly together with a dedicated message on the display.
