I have changed the front light clusters for new units, I tested before refitting and everything worked ok.
Once refitted in place, I re-tested it and I now have no low/high beam, sidelights, indicators, rear lights, instrument panel and warning lights.
Apart from testing the keys were not in the ignition.
I have checked the obvious stuff and have not found the problem.
If anyone has any advice on what the problem may be that would be great
Thanks

Hi,

Have you tried starting the engine, since you discovered the problem?

If engine does not crank, then I suggest checking fuse F03 30A (green) maxi blade in the engine bay fusebox, and via which the ignition switch is supplied.

In the interests of others please post the resolution of your problem on this thread.

Hi thanks for the response, the engine cranks and starts with no problem, but i will check your suggestion in any case.
The fuse has checked out ok and has continuity.
Therefore im still flummoxed, any further advice would be really appreciated

This is actually quite interesting , as you have lost some quite major functions , which are spread over 6 , or more fuses . So it's unlikely , a blown fuse is gonna be problem . However it's interesting when you say , "changed the clusters" , my question has to be , why ? ;

  • Can i ask , what was wrong with the originals ? .
and perhaps a more basic question ,
  • Have you tried reconnecting the originals ? .
But i'm gonna go out on a limb here ,
  • I have to ask , these new units are original equipment , arnt they ? .
By this i mean they are the same type as you removed . Or are they from a different model , perhaps they could be some kind of aftermarket kit . I'd also like to ask , are we talking about some kind of motorhome , or is this a standard van .

Hi,
In addition to the questions posed by @airwave, it would help if the model number was confirmed. I originally assumed x244, but if a motorhome, due to conversion delays the earlier x230 is possible. There are considerable differences in the wiring of the two models.

assumed x244,

A good point , but i think at 2003 , it's safe to assume it is a 244 . If i remember correctly the change over date was 2001 , and even allowing for delays 2003 should just about clear it . Basically this one would be half way through the 244 production run , which i think ended around 2006 .

I would also be very interested to know how the testing was conducted , and more importantly , why it was felt , a test was needed in the first place !

If i was fitting like for like , i wouldn't bother , it would be a pointless exercise .

It is my understanding that the x244 (2002 facelift) was introduced in 2002, hence a 2003 MH could be either an x230, or an x244.

Production of the x244 ended in mid 2006. My 2.8 JTD was manufactured and registered in 2006.

Oh really , i can't argue ,because honestly i don't know . My van is an idtd , so a large number of body parts from the 244 will actual fit mine , it's the floor pan . The engine is a bonus , but therein my interest wain's . Due to the similarity of the vans , i would try and help someone in trouble , as i would with the earlier 2.5 ( the 2.8 uses the same lower engine block) , but the fact is i do have very low limits with this marque .
