Good day all,
I bought my 2012 Panda Young 1.2 second hand but it never came with the user manual.
Lately when I start up the engine somehow it resets all the LED units to zero.
This does not happen every time I start up.
Only the odometer is unaffected but everything else resets to zero.
(Trip meter A & B, fuel consumption etc)
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

battery dropping below 6v while cranking

worn out battery is most likely

poor charging

High resistance in a power, ground lead or corroded battery leads.

I would check the battery First. If you don't have a volt meter most motor factors, garages here in the UK will check it free of charge.

A big thanks to all you guys for suggesting the battery.
The tester showed "Bad, replace battery" straight away.
About 8 months ago my fuel gauge started playing up as well as the needle was jumping around. The FIAT dealership wanted to charge me R11,000.00 to replace the sensor in the tank. Thank goodness I never had this done as I think the battery could also have been the problem.

Glad you got it sorted. Mine also reset to 0 three times this winter, after struggling to start from cold.

We've only been doing (very) infrequent (very) short journeys, usually in the dark, so I guess every trip was draining the battery more than it could recover.

I've charged the battery up and it's been fine since. Still, ours is quite an elderly 40Ah battery so this could be the first sign its days are numbered.

Still started well though

I had a Yamaha 900 bike that turned over fine but refused to start yet when I put a meter on it the voltage was down around 7 volts. At least two cells were awol.

The starter sounded little slow but nothing obvious. The battery was buried under body work but it stated immediately with jump leads and a long screwdriver (to reach the positive terminal). There was not enough contact area to give much extra oomph, but I guess the voltage held up enough to light the electronics.

At the opposite extreme a 12V VW boxer engine with a six volt starter turned over at an amazing rate. Double the volts gave double the starter power.

Once the weather warms up it will probably solder on until the next cold weather
