General Leather steering wheel destroyed!

I only remember 1 or 2 others with the same complaint, maybe T or one of the other Fiat Techs would know different? Honestly mine looks mint, like new TBH.

seen this a few times (2 or 3 in last 3 years odd)

its clearly a dodgy batch then, but let's be honest, they're going to get out or replacing a £250+ part if they can.

but it would only cost Fiat £120-140 ish?

Aftershaves are baaad. I used to keep mine in the glove box and put it on on the way to work and I think thats whats caused it on mine!.

I worked on a customers mk2 mondeo & asked what happened to the dash (it looked like the the centre of it had melted!) turns out she had a air freshner that clipped into the air vent, this leaked

erm pardon my logic here. but if you dont think you need to cream the leather then why bother doing it in the first place

i think he's gettin more at the point that you shouldn't have to cream the leather to stop it cracking in the first two years, and maybe if you never cared for it in 5 years you wouldn't be able to moan if it happened

so he doesn't think you should have to but he was doing so that his leather lasted even longer

yeah, but by that logic, the guy would never have conditioned the leather in the first place so Rolf is indeed correct

by that logic he belives that if he didn't use the cream there would be problems down the line (5 years +) but not within 2 years

he's using cream NOW to make sure that he doesn't have any problems at all even in 5 years time

I use leather cream to prolong the life of the leather, i.e. for as long as i have the car and who knows how long that will be. (some of us dont get bought cars every few years by mummy and daddy) (not a dig at you rolf). I would NOT however expect the leather (treated or otherwise) to "fail" after 2 years. Is that so outrageous??

Just a quick update from my side, ive just had a new steering wheel fitted on my tjet under warranty (cars in second year manufacturer warranty)
