General Leather steering wheel destroyed!

shouldn't have to really, the car should be designed for a bit of sun, I mean, its Scotland not Dubai.

I dont think it gets that hot up there mate TBH.

I got wind deflectors so I can leave a 1" gap and not look like the window is open, does keep it cooler. Could there have been anything solvent wise on your wheel when u cleaned it? Its been 24 - 26 degrees here over the weekend & my car seat were roasting, so was the steering wheel, no blistering, unless your leather is defective, which should mean a replacement FoC, proving it might be hard though. Its much hotter & sunnier for longer in Italy & Europe in general Summertime, I'm sure peeps on here would know if it were a common issue.

You can go on holiday for £300? If you go aftermarket then your easily breaking into the £300 once you factor in everything you need to get it fitted properly.

Yes i can go on a holiday for £300.

Well thats what im getting at, people are being very helpfull offering tips and suggestions but the fact is it shouldnt have happened, i should be able to park my car in the sun and it shouldnt happen. No solvents or chemicals of any kind on there ffoxy, every 6 months it get a leather cream but thats it.

Just meaning i would never spend that kind of money (e.g. a holiday) on getting my wheel retrimmed. id sooner just buy an aftermarket one or just live with the fact its blistered.

afftermarket will be more. fiats list price for a leather steering wheel is £248 and change. a momo, sparco or isotta (its an italian car so italian wheel makes sense) your loking at about the same plus a hub/boss (momo and isotta are the only ones who make these for the gp currently as far as im aware and do charge for them) plus the added fact of no airbag and needing to disable the airbag warning light and the added cost in insurance for removing a safety feature you would be looking at considerably more than for a wheel retrim or direct replacement.

well vagsofron is from greece and lets be honest it gets a fair bit hotter there than it does here so heat as a reason is unlikely.

what do you do for leather care?

its only like a good set of shoes etc you do need to clean it, polish it etc every once in a while and depending on how much you use the car the more frequent.

Never do anything to my steering wheel just a wipe over with warm water when I scrub out the interior now n again.

I think it was a dodgy bit of leather personally...

that is possible. id say going by the people who have had faults though that there is a dodgy batch so would make sense to identify the batch numbers and see if you get a recall.

Wont be a recall as its not safety related (could debate that actually) and I only remember 1 or 2 others with the same complaint, maybe T or one of the other Fiat Techs would know different? Honestly mine looks mint, like new TBH.

This is mine
