Technical lambda sensor reading

Technical lambda sensor reading

Why do you need a new head? I have a head from a 1.2 8v punto. Blown piston rings but head should be good! (y)

:D At the moment I'm broke mate, I would need to save money first, but would it be ok with my engine, please don't take this funnily i think that's what happened this time. My engine is a 1.1 8v. would the bore diameter be bigger on yours?

I have no idea. Someone else would have to confirm this

ok mate thanks, think my best bet is get a 1108cc 55s head from scrappy, gotta run better than that's on now. just look for low mileage? I'll be reseating and grinding the valves any way.

really pee'd me off, last head was knocking, but sweet at idle, no misfires. just a knocking that spoilt it.

knocking or tapping?

this was my engine before hand, no misfiring, or near stalling at idle, just knocking on camshaft.

which when i took the head out the bearing cups had scratch marks on them.

but you say it ran ok except the noise? if this is the case then (assuming you have connected all the sensors back correctly and are using original sensors) the fault is in the new head, skimmed/gasket thickness etc

all senors pipes went back in the same place, how ever  it didn't get skimmed but it did have a bloody good clean :D, i've done it before without getting it skimmed, unless i was just lucky then, Just to add im not losing coolant and there's no mayo or white smoke coming out.

head gasket set was the same I've used before. and didn't have any problems.

I was just going do a short vid of what the multimeter is saying but cam battery has died so will be abit later now.

ps: pic of exhaust end, there's a funny smell from there as well, it makes your eyes water and stings the insideof your nose, no idea what that is. and a slight bit of dark greyish smoke ever now and then, mostly when rev'd

Unless the engine is stone cold on a cold day, that exhaust picture is not good. Include the eyes stinging smell makes me believe you have coolant down the exhaust pipe.

It could be the head gasket or a crack on the head or in the block.

Coolant will also affect the Lambda readings.

ner the engine is warm in that pic, since the head change its been like that, everything u hear the miss, u see water flicking out the back :( temp outside is moderate but normal for around here, but it didn't do it before.

like i say the head gasket set ive used before, no probs there, just changed because of head transfer. last hg lasted a around a year, and only tampered with because of this change.

is it because i didn't get the head skimmed, no leakage before, misfire, coolant loss, mayo etc. just camshaft knock.

think my main concern is if i take it apart again, get it skimmed, rebuild it and its still the same, i'll be stuffed as money is a problem at the moment. its either trying get this sorted or getting another head.

2 vids :)

Ignore my dodgy voice lol

cold start

Hot running. with stumble @ time 0:34 seconds into the video.
That happens when driving just after I press the clutch down and come to a stop for lights, junctions etc. or it can happen at idle when warm like on there.

Just looked at them, your air induction is dirty and a bit twisted.
Replace the original air box and see if that helps.
May not be getting enough air in to burn properly, so exhaust will smell of petrol and cause the engine to shake and hesitate like it did.

If it's not combusting properly with enough air. Overtime it can have an effect on the head gasket!
