I m not sure if you swap the plates if the needle will give you the correct reading. This issue has been discussed before but I cant help much. Have a look at a thread that was something like import to spain. I think the issue was MPH -> KPH. might help.
Question is.........if you already have an MPH speedo, why do you need another?
Because the revs and speedo work whenever they feel like it.
The milage counter works perfect
Εlectronic.Although do barchetta's have a speedo cable or are they electronic?
Ever considered repairing the one you have? how hard could it be?
May be dust or some loose contacts. Take the panel out, open it up, clean it, push all connectors in tight and clean the contacts a bit.
Might save you $$$ and trouble.
Plus, the problem might be elsewhere ( I really hope not ).
There is a chance that the pulse reader has failed, thus no reading sent to the panel. So I would recommend you start from what I said before.
Funny you mentioned BMWs Alan,
It was my BMW that had the same problem which I sorted out with cleaning
I run a 7 series website so probably know that car, esp the e32, better than any other. Certainly a lot better than I know the Barchetta
proper PIMP cars
So just to clarify:
The way the KPH to MPH conversion works is to leave the Speedo and Odo untouched, but introduce a module in to the cabling so that the pod receives fewer pulses, thus reducing the movement of the Speedo needle and Odo.
The conversion doesn't work by replacing the facia behind the speedo needle.
Is that right?
