Hello to everyone, it's going to be a longer post but bare with me. A few months ago the car developed a concerning knocking noise from the front right side. As a pretty competent diy-er, I immediatley checked the usual stuff, tightened the wheels, checked the bearings, exhaust hangers etc. After it didn't went away I got to work. Checked and/or replaced everything; drop links, ball joints, dissasembled the struts, replaced the engine and gearbox mounts, everything. The noise can be described as someone hitting the subframe with a hammer (checked the subframe bolts). Also did the brakes the other day and everything is ok. Now for the plot twist, when I lift the front end of the car with a jack, je the noise goes away for a few days then gradually comes back!! Now if anyone has got any idea what to check next, I would really appriciate it. The car is a 2011 Bravo sport 1.4 t-jet 88kw with 120000 km. Thank you in advance

i dont know anything about a Bravo, have you checked the top strut rubber mount, can work loose and wear. well it does on the two Panda's i have owned

Sure, checked both mounts, they look fairly new...

Torsion bar at the ends bushes of torsion bar. Check and remove the reinforcement bar = the metal strip where the left and right protection undertrays are fixed with 2 screws.

Not sure I understand, the steel bracket is making noise?

I suspect the rubber bushes at the rear of the arms. You jack up and they twist when lowering they go back in a different position until it then drives and begins to settle back.

Sadly you only describe a knocking noise but not describing any times movements when noises happen to help the diagnosis. As this is really helpful

You mean the arb bushes? I suspected them but they look ok and the arb doesn't move when I try tensioning it with a crowbar. The knocking occurs over large bumps but also uneven sections of the road ( for example where the asphalt sinked somewhat ).

ARB in my book says anti roll bar. My description is the bushes at the rear of the main lower arm
Sorry, wasn't reading with comprehension...I guess I will remove the arms and inspect because they don't look bad, but tbf you cant see the whole bush

Look for contact marks on the perimeter arround the arm. No real need to remove them. If you have banging then there will be contact marks

Thank you, that's really helpfull. Will report back

I would say drop liks on the strut / ATRB and dont think because you cant move them they wont knock.
Also dont be mislead into ruling out all ther sources other than suspension. Check for air cleaner box, raidator mounts and bumpers. These noises can be devilish to pin down.
Broken spring or stone caught in the spring tray.

Im going to ask again. When do you get the noise( i dont mean 3 days after jacking it up).

Is the noise when going straight or on corners, when going over speed bumps, when accelerating or braking, when changing gear. When engaging clutch.

This is basic information that is REALLY helpful to assist every one who is trying to help you. The only description yoh have given is "knocking drivers side front". Very vague.

Help everyone who is trying to help you!

Sorry for not posting for a while but the noise just came back few days ago. Meanwhile i rechecked everything again with the car on the ground, can't find any evidence of excessive control arm movement, bushes seem really solid. Here's a video of driving maybe 20-30 kph on really bad asphalt with lots of patches.

It seems more obvious when going in a straight line so it suggests anti roll bar in some way. At road height does there seem to be reduced clearance between the arms and anti roll bar
