I lost my keys about a week ago and still haven't found them.. I've got a spare luckily, but i want to get another one cut just incase.

A key cutter quoted me £40, another locksmith said he wouldn't be able to cut me one due to the imobiliser and said to ring Fiat.

Does anyone know of anywhere thats cheap and around sussex?

Cheers.

is this a similair thing to the alfa coded keys? i had to get one done for the 155, found timpsons in asda cut and coded it for £35, my local hardware store for £25...which i found out after getting it done at timpsons!:bang:

Is it a code 2 key? (Will have been 2 keys, both blue, with a 2 on them).

If so, and if it works, £40 is a damn good price!

No idea where Sussex is.................

yeah both my keys are blue, don't have a red key as some others have mentioned. What do you mean by having a "2" on them?

Timpsons..? hmmm. i know there is one in Brighton, i may try there.

& Sussex is like down the bottom of england (south east) ;)

Oh & with the £40 key cut, I later found out that his key code machine couldn't find my code, so he rung his friend and quoted me £55 if he could do it & £95 if he had to do it diagnostically!

****. I really don't want to be paying out millions for a new key lol.

Is there any other options? Like getting a blank off Ebay then getting it coded? Would that work?

Well I asked the locksmith, he said he'd do it but, its not guarenteed to work, so I'm wondering if it's worth spending £15 quid and hoping it does or get it done properly..

my dad snapped his key 2001 punto, spent all day getting told this garage can do it and that one will, but in the end those keys will only start the car once then the code will change so it wont start car again. my quote from arnold clark fiat was £89.99 for a key £20 for code £36-38 ph labour, ow and i had to get car towed to their garage..

oh, so there doesnt look like theres any way around it. argh!

i live in Brighton.. i can get a non remote key for £40 but its not whats needed.. :(

buying a blank key, remote or not will not help.

I dunno if there is a fiat dealership in brighton anymore. But the parts desk is still in the Crawley wilson purves that you could ring...they've always been really good in there (y)

Thank you! Do you know roughly how much or does it differ alot?

you reckon bantering with them will make it any cheaper lol

lol I don't think you wanna be sweet to any of them in there lol
I'm not saying anymore, incase any of them are here....*coughs* they are all gorgeous ;)

(it all comes up on computer for parts anyways, so not much chance of discount)

I'm not 100% on prices as I only have mk1's...but think its about £80-£100 (n)

True, but get twenty quid off and bring my dad and im a winner ahahah, nah i'll ring them tomorrow..
Thank you for your help - as you can tell i'm pretty useless. I've got to tax my car tomorow too, god, i have no clue what to do either lol.

you can get the key with transponder chip in for around £5 then any locksmith should be able to cut it pretty cheap.

Then you will need the key code from fiat, then you will be able to get a third party to program it in to your car.

ARGH.

everyone's saying different stuff! where can i get one of those dooberry things from?

It's a mk2 rolling code, not a mk1. If you know of any 3rd party who can code rather than fiat, then please share the info.

That is because the previous post is not correct.
