But do they know they were factory fitted optional extra's ?

If I had any idea they had dodgy insurance I would have played up to it completely ;)

Stiloboy, chill, I will disagree with you soon enough :D

I still have pictures of somebody having a crash and the first thing they do is superglue wheel trims to their alloys on the spot and rip out the induction etc.... ;)

I should bloody hope so - I went over it serveral times to be sure - I have no wish at all to be uninsured and the possible nightmare that could go with it !!

When I rang them I told them there where no options for "extra's" on the website - I told them very clearly that these were options - Again they said no problem as long as they were not fitted by someone other than factory.

(y) thats cool then...I only wish elephant were as good... as soon as my 10 month bonus accelerator is up, im going with Adrian Flux, as they are just as cheap but they allow more mods and they are all covered too.

Yeah I hear very good things about them - I think I'll get a quote when the mods start coming .... now if only i could get this damn power cable through the bulk head .......

What? Insurance companies don't rip you off. I have said numerous of times, in the 90s they lost billions (remember we're talking that sort of figure) and are only just recouping that sort of cost. Think of all the poeple you know who have had a crash....think how much they pay for insurance compared to the payout. Exactly.

If you don't declare mods then you don't have insurance so you may as well cancel your current policy, not bother getting tax and MOTs are pointless too. Should save you a fair bit.

If you have extra power under your bonnet and hit somebody and the value of the claim is serious, they will null your insurance and leave you "up **** creek without a paddle"

I find it amazing how often we get people on here with this attitude. It beats me logic that somebody would even bother getting insurance.

If however you hit me crossing a road playing with your CD player and break my spine, you will be taken to court for hundreds of thousands of pounds, if not 1mill+.

If you don't like the fact that your insurance company won't do your car up to its current standrd (like Koa), simply change company to one that will. There are plenty out there. If you aren't bothered, declare your mods and forget about it. Affording modifcations should INCLUDE the value of the insurance increase.

Just wondering if you had a crash how comical you could look pulling out the jack, replacing those aftermarket alloys, removing your induction kit etc. etc.

What's that, insurance companies don't rip you off! lol:D Just as well I'm not getting aftermarket alloys then isn't it.

They don't. Well, not if you average out the last 10 years. Did you read my post?! How many people do you know who have had a crash? On here, people are genuinely better drivers than the norm (because they take an interest in their car) but we could add up thousands and thousands of pounds worth of payouts. Also, due to the fairly young age of drivers on here the average premium is higher than the general public. It's an unfair representation of the actual market.

Pay 3k for 5 years insurance, have a crash, payout of 6k.....whoops! They lose 3k. A crash in a 0-4 or 5 year old car can cause such a payout depending on the car of course. A crash in 5 years isn't that unlikely....they offer quite a good deal.

Oh and for the record I paid £900 for a 1.0 Uno TPFT and currently pay £760 TPFT for a 1.8 laguna at 19 with a years NCB. It sucks because it's not FC of course...!

No offence but at 19 I would expect you to have a higher premium. At 31 I'm paying £652 fully comp but it wasn't until recently I actually managed to be able to afford fully comp. But I still think insurance companies do stitch people up trust me! I've had experience. ;)

Follow the rules and they don't. For example, I took my car up to uni for 3 weeks and I phoned them to check if this was ok, they checked with their underwriter and confirmed it was. Somebody else may not have done this and just gone, then the insurance company could have claimed (if it was broken into) that I was just keeping it there and lying about the address etc.

Why would you think I would take offence at having a low premium? Change my postcode to my manchester address and it doubles! It helps having a seemingly excellent postcode for insurance.

They work on extremely complex mathematical statistics and take a huge risk, as do the insurers of the insurers, they have to make money to cover this risk. Honestly, the 80's and early to mid 90s were a disaster for insurance companies financially.

I think the prices are quite fair overall, but for young girls its a bit over the top.

One thing they need to do is take each owners circumstances into account more than the generalised crap they do now...
For example, my car is parked on a driveway according to my insurance, but its far more than that. Its surrounded by 6 foot fences, it has 2 security cameras protecting it that are hooked up to motion sensors that raise an alarm in my house every time something goes within 30 feet of the car. This sort of thing they don't even want to know about ?

Yep, that's unfair....some insurers except "secure car parking bay with CCTV and locked access" normally for shared car parks but I am sure this could be used for somebody like you?

Statistically up to about 30 Women ARE better drivers (for insurance purposes, claims wise), but over 30 men are better drivers for the same reasons!

To this end, i don't care that men are discriminated against below 30, but if thats the way they want to play it they should discriminate against women over 30!

Of course women are hard done by.... afterall they have ovaries!

Of course, being fully comp means that if you are hit by an uninsured or untraceable driver, the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) will not pay you out - the onus is on you to claim on your fully comp policy.
If you are TPFT, you have no possibility of making a claim and so the MIB will settle your claim. Makes spending extra for full comp actually a worse scenario!
