Technical jtd elx punto turbo trouble

The turbo on my Punto diesel seems to work intermittently. Coming back from the coast it was in limp home mode for 70 miles, swithched off for 5 mins & it came back on as right as rain.
I have tried re-setting the ecu, to no avail.
Any advice for a fix? or is it a new turbo?

Turbo's dont normally just give up, probably be a sensor..

Where would I find the sensor for the turbo?

Try searching Mass Airflow Meter. Sounds like this could be your problem.

MAF issues are not normally intermittant although they should not be discounted. Unplug the MAf and run it like that for a few miles and see what it does.

Was there any smoke, (White or normal?) during this period? Could be an intercooler pipe or some other air leak.

Oh yes they do and on much better built cars than a Punto. However once they are gone they are gone, they don't come back.

It is probably just a sensor though
