Punto (Mk2/2b) Joshhh Mk2b Punto "Project".

Introduction

Hello FiatForum!
Just thought start this project thread so you guys can see what im doing to my car and to gain some feedback on what i should/shouldn't do.
So to start off, i brought this baby about 3 months ago (Jan 2012). So after recovering from the crippling deposit for insurance, i can finally start to mod my car out (y)

When i brought it, there was some noticable damage to the rear bumper and the driver's side rear quater panel, where someone had hit it and it had been poorly repaired (Shoddy paintjob, so lots of rust. Fantastic.

)

So first off, i got it home and gave it a good clean out, where i found a boots loyality card and a drumstick lolly.

So once i had it all cleaned up, there was a niggling problem, THOSE TRIMS.

Yeah i know they are standard, or "stock" but Look at them! I truely hated them with a passion.

So, got myself over to halfords and brought some High Enamal Matte Black Paint for pretty cheap and then brought some Trims from eBay for £30

So, SOOOO much better. Then, shortly after i brought some things online.

Added some stickers here and there:

So i sat there, looking at my car, admiring my work so far, and then i noticed those "Active" badges under the side repeaters. They had to go.

So got some fishing wire and some WD40 (And a hairdryer) and removed those.

BOOM.

Then i got a bit too happy with how easy that was and removed "Punto" from the back. (Yes i know, i deserve a smack from every FF user

)

So, thats my car's story so far, the plans ive got are:

- Flyeye tint the Rear lights
- Change headlight colours
- Sportex Exhaust System (Current one sounds like a rusty fart)

So please, feel free on commenting about my car, or what you think i should do

declaring mods....in that case do i need to tell them that i use Black Ice air fresheners, car seatcovers, HID's , alloys, air filter, diff radio?

petrol if ya think about it is a mod too :p

Well yes you do!

Air filter needs to be declaired, alloys if not factory fit, infact anything you've retro fitted or that was an option at manufacture technically.

I can't see how petrol is a mod unless the car was originally diesel

I'd be calling your provider tomorrow if I were you just to check, the last thing you want is an invalid policy ;)

Its Stupid the stuff you should declare expecialy when it is an optional extra that has been pick from the show room. So technically nearly everyone has a modded vehical acording to insurance providers.

My advice is to delacre stuff but dont but daft.

just seen this thread.. beware of stickerbomb book stickers on the outside, coat them with some transparent foil or something, I didn't cover mine and they got ruined after a few rainy days / washes :bang:

otherwise, when you get the money, lower the car, get some nice 15" alloys, stretch rubber on them, and you have about 75% of good looks covered :D

and as for the widened steelies a few pages back, that can look great, I plan to do that for my winter set of wheels.. if I manage to save enough cash of course.. :D

Dude, i LOVED what you did to your Punto! I put 3 coats of laquire on the Stickerbombs, so they should be good for a while! (y)
But cheers for the advice lad! (y) I do wanna lower this but it costs a fair bit, i seriously loved your Snowman, thats what made me believe that a MK2B could look awesome when modded (y)

Going back to the induction kits, say if i wanted to make it sound a bit more BEASTY under the engine, which is best to do? Focus Kit or go build my own? (If that is the better option, could you build a list/instructions on how i can do that? :D I'd be extremely grateful (y))

Hello there! Long time no post guys. Right, i went on holiday with my bird and ended up forgetting to post on here what i did before i went. So now, i'm just gonna post everything back then and what i done today (y)

Went into my loft to go get the old toy box and come across these:

So i went to work and a lad that works with me has a euro'ed to F*ck Golf and he said: "I just got rid of my caps for some i made, its easy to do."
So went home and got my girlfriends hot glue gun out with a stanley blade.

Right then, why have plain black valve caps?
No thank you.

Also, Stickerbombing is fun:

I like the Lego dust caps :)

However your headlamps are not suitable for HIDs and should not be fitted. I look forward to seeing the rest of your ideas being implemented.
Cheers buddy! took a nasty cut to my thumb and pissed blood, didn't wreck them though (y)
And cheers for the HID comment! thats saved me hours of searching/buying incorrect ones, so yeah, thanks again (y)

Awesome dude, looks good. Nice to see a car that's well done but not too serious and a bit of fun. The dust caps are a nice touch :)
Cheers buddy! (y) Just gotta save up for those Coilovers :( £180 is just soooo close (n)

steels aren't my taste, but each to there own.

if you wanted alloys, just fit some from a Sporting, you can find some decent deals on ebay for those at good prices as well.

Trust me bud, i've looked for alloys since i brought the car, but i'd spray them a different colour, couldn't stand the bog-standard grey-ish colour.

ALSO
Just brought a new exhaust  should be here by the weekend but if not ill have to wait till the following weekend to mount on (y) and ontop of that im on the final steps to fixing the bumper!
It's all coming together now guys/gals! (y)
Until then, might go stickerbomb something else just for the crack of it.

This is a MK2B, has reflector lamps for both main and dipped beam rather than the projector and reflector on the MK2, therefore you cant put the HID's in the low beam.
