I would like to know if the Fiat drive shifts from 1 and 2 have a jerk. Is that normal first time owning a Fiat is this a concern enough to take to the dealership. Please respond

As the OP is in the USA, I've moved this to the 500 (USA) section, as the North American automatics have a different type of transmission to the European ones.

I've also changed the thread title to something more meaningful.

MORE info required what car and model , age? mileage ect no way can anyone answer you with such sketchy details
OK the question is I ecently purchased a 2016 Fiat 500x about a week ago and when it' shifts the 1to 2 gear it has a jerk but once it smoothes out it doesn't do it. I has the software checked it's been updated and the sparks plugs and coils have been changed. Should I take it to a dealership

As its a 10 year old car what is its mileage? if over 50k might need a transmission service!.

Suggestion take it to a dealership
Id try and find a good independent service agent knowledgeable about fiat and get a transmission oil and filter change done!
If that doesn't cure it the trans may be worn beyond the point where you want to pay out to repair it guess it depends on the condition of the rest of the car and how much you like it!.

Yes I have one in mind. The throttle has been checked and clean my next step is taking to a Chrysler dealership. The oil was changed about a month ago. Thanks for the information

My advice is to get an independent inspection done by a transmission shop; I understand these are commonplace in the USA.

This does not sound like normal behavior, and if the fault were to develop into something more serious, a full transmission repair could prove very costly, perhaps exceeding the price you paid for the car.

I've no idea about consumer protection laws in the US, but if you'd bought this car in the UK, and it had a major fault, the selling dealer would have one chance to fix it. If they couldn't, or if the repair failed again, you would have a legal right to return the car and get your money back.

UK and European 500's use a completely different type of transmission, known to be troublesome at this age & mileage. Don't read anything into posts you might find about transmission problems on European 500's.

I just had a "gearbox shift" error looked at on my 2012 Fiat 500. Everything OK, however, if your shifting is jerking, you best have it checked out! So I am told, transmission problems don't just happen all at once - there are little things along the way. I'd say this is one of those "little" things.
