Hi There, glad I've found this forum, didn't realise how popular Puntos were!

I've just bought a MK2B 04 Punto and have decided to take the crappy cassette player out and put in my own. I'm still waiting for my headunit to arrive but until that happens my mate has lent me his. However when I plug in the ISO connectors the power light behind the facia is on but the actual facia doesn't seem to have any power.

I've been told and I've seen on here that I need to connect the orange and red wires on the loom together but when looking on the loom I have:

Solid Orange
Orange & Black

Red & White
Red & Black
Red & Sky Blue

So which of the two would I need to join together?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I already have looked around but everyone seems to say join the red and orange or red and yellow but I don't have any solid red wires from the loom thus I don't know which one to connect!

In this pic this is what my ISO connector looks like if you was looking at it head on with the clips on the right.

I can't seem to find out which wires I need to join together

Actually the wires from the loom which go into the plug are like this:

Please ignore the first image. Does anyone know what wires I have to join together to enable me to use an after market HU?

Any help would be really appreciated, hoping to get my HU tomorrow!

OK I've managed to find a wiring diagram kindly uploaded by ColinF1

By looking at the diagram and me having pin 2,6 & 7 blank I need to join pins 3 (Pink & White) & 4 (Red & White)?

Can ANYONE who has swapped their standard Radio/Cassette from a MK2B Punto for an after market HU confirm that these are the two pins which they had to join together?

I've been at this for 6 hours so anyone who doesn't mind looking I would really appreciate it. My HU is due tomorrow and I don't want to start slicing wires which I don't need to.

Thanks for your replies, I think I'm causing confusion because my loom seems to have different colour wires than the MK2a as I have no solid red or yellow wires which itself is confusing me when I'm reading other members guides/instructions etc.

From what I think my ISO connector diagram pin numbers are in the order:

7531
8642

I will join the two wires which I assume are the only ones connected to the battery and hope for the best.

did you get this sorted?
it should be simple. the red and yellow wires u need to swap are on the ISO adapter supplied with the HU, not the car loom

Nope not got it sorted, got my HU today and will not switch on. Been using a mates since I last posted with a loom he got with his HU plugged into mine and worked fine.

I think I either need to get one of the pins out of my ISO connector attached to the loom on the car which won't be used and then connect it to the live wire and put into pin 7. But tried that tonight using a paper clip for the last hour and can't get the damn pin thing out.

So.. does anyone know were they sell a ISO loom male to female with all wires inbetween so I can cut how I want? i.e All 16 wires connected straight through between each male and female connector?

My instructions show this:

As you can see from my diagram above, number 7 is blank which I assume is the problem.

The live is fine, would a wire joined to the live at pin 4 then put that into pin 7 do?

If so I just need to get the bloody pin out of the loom which I had great difficulty with. Don't want to buy anything else if I don't need to.

you would find doing that might drain ur battery.
do u have access to a multi-meter so you can test which wires are live and not live when igntion off?
you should have a switched live from the ignition already there.
someone with a mk2 shud be able to tell you which colour wire that is to put in pin 7
