Was coming home today in the rain stoped at trafic lights and noticed steam coming from the front of the car checked the water and all is ok is this just because of ware the radiator is located?
Could even be something as simple as that the warm engine has dried out previous wet/damp areas of engine bay, im gathering the car was stood in the rain
it wil be fine, when the engine is hot, pour water into the front of the rad - i used to do this to cool my racing engines down after a race - a gallon of water can ose you up to 30deg when poured over the rad core, but that was without a thermo fitted, on a road car it wont do any harm though, you will see the steam created by the rad then which is what you are seeing.
The VX 220 has a horizontal rad. When you stop in wet weather, any water on the bonnet slides down into the rad and produces an impressive cloud of steam.
