I notice that my wipers touch the Right A-beam when off and touch the left A-beam when in full out position. Guessing my wipers or wiperarms are not correct - unless its possible to reconfigure the working area of the wipers on X290 ducato?

Might be wear on the splines , you may be able to reposition , whilst your at it , lubricate the drivers side shaft , they seize up and fail around 50/70 000mls as there is no bearing just steel on alloy and they snap [ always fail when its raining ..lol] not a fun job i,ve done 4 so far with my vans i,ve owned ..!!!!!

If you re position the arms on the splines make sure they are fully seated on the splines and the nut fully tightened before you switch them on.
Or the splines will slip and get chewed up, necessitating new arms and linkage.
You can't adjust the length of travel of the arms. What usually happens is as the linkage wears the arms overshoot. So check the linkage for wear.
I got a cheap replacement wiper motor off ebay - but unfortunately the linkage arm on the motor was slightly longer than the original. This is magnified with leverage so a very slightly longer arm results in a much bigger swept area - so the blades were travelling much further and catching at both ends. The same thing can happen if the joints become slack or the arm on the motor becomes loose. You really need to investigate the linkage for free play as ii sounds like it could be very worn and about to fail.

Hi

This picture (Wikipedia) shows the rest position and the shape of the arms for a Left Hand Drive vehicle. The blade lengths listed are 650 mm for Driver and 550 mm for Passenger, but check the handbook.

In my Bravo the clearance of left and right arms was ridiculously small. On that car there were marks on the base of teh screen where the parked wiper tips should align. They had to be EXACTLY right or they would catch. Once aligned with teh marks order was restored. Get an assistant to sit in the car and see where they are touching. You can then make adjustments. A single spline out with either blade may be all that it takes. I thought I was going mad with this at one stage. This was after I had a new screen and I put the things back myself.... Correctly adjusted there was about 2mm of clearance!!
