Hi, this is my first post, after hours of searching this website and across the internet with google, i can not find much to help my situation.

I have a Fiat Grande Punto 1.4 Dynamic... it does not have Blue&Me installed, with no USB connection in the glovebox. I have bought the Fiat iPod Cable kit from the Fiat dealer Part No:50901536 I had it fitted by a mechanic today, took stereo out, fitted all the wires, put it all back. I have a 4GB iPod Nano.

Heres the problem, my ipod must be recognised somehow, as it has fiat picture on ipod, then goes to the song name thats playing with "OK to disconnect" underneath. My iPod also charges too. The manual for the kit tells me i need to go onto the "CD Changer" option to listen to the ipod, go through the playlists and change tracks etc. However when i go onto the CD Changer source, it has the default display of "CD 1 00.00 00" and does not play anything. I can change the song playing, and see that the song changes from the visual display on my ipod.

When i change the source to AUX...(I do not have an AUX cable) I can hear my ipod playing in my left front speaker, with the slightest volume, with all my audio set on full volume.

Just wondering if anyone has had any similar problems or fixes?
Thanks

I fitted one of these to my car a few weeks back.

Based on your description, I'd suspect that it was wired in wrongly, though as it's very hard to get it wrong, I can't imagine how.

Get yourself the tools to take the head unit out and check that it's wired into the left-hand set of pins (for the CD changer) and not the right-hand set (AUX). (That's looking from the front.)

Could also be a fault in the HU itself of course...

:yeahthat:

For the cable to work properly, you need you need to have it installed in the CD changer socket, not the aux so if you cant hear it on the CD changer setting then it probably is wired in wrong. You can get a set of pins to remove the h/u from Halfrauds for about £2 iirc, or bend a metal coathanger to fit.

Theres only two bits that the cable could fit in so it'll be easy to see if it is just wired incorrectly.

Thanks for the replies guys, went to Halfords, bought the removal pins. Took it out and all wired correctly, fiddled around with all menus and everything. Turned out, if i connect my ipod and start the engine afterwards, the ipod plays great quality through the CD Changer. However, another problem has now occured  It seems it plays all the songs on my ipod, but if i skip a song, it goes back to the very beginning of the entire playlist and loops the first song... if i leave the song to play through, it will continue through the other songs though. Just wondering if anyone had a quick solution for this, seen some other people having this problem too.
Again, thanks (y)

Can't help you there. Don't have this problem using it with my old iPod mini.

Ok,

The cable automatically picks up the first 9 playlists on your iPod and will play through these in order.

If you want a specific album/genre etc on, play it on your iPod first, plug it in and then start the car and it'll play as normal.

Now, if you do the above or if you're playing a playlist and you wanna skip a track, use the up/down arrows on the h/u to scroll to playlist 10, once your on this you can use the left/right buttons or steering wheel controls to skip a track.

Hope that helps.

Thanks powered_up_pac_man,
Going to CD10 has helped with being able to change songs and playlists without it repeating the first song again. Appreciate the help, hope this thread helps others with the same problem. Thanks again.
