Technical Fiat Semi-Automatic gearbox problem (getting suck)

Hi, I have a Fiat Automatic gearbox problem.

It is a Fiat Punto Eleganza 8V (2008), the same one from this video:

Most of the time it drives fine.

However, every now and then, it will struggle to auto-change gear.

The gear dashboard warning will light up, and automatic gear changing will become unavailable.

To fix this, all I need to do is pull up on the side of the road and turn the car on and off again; then it works fine.

For example, last time it got stuck in 2nd gear (auto). I come move fine but on higher gears it was revving loud and it would not go into gear 1. I did not try to change it into manual, but maybe that would have worked.

Could you explain to me what is happening to my car and how I could fix it?
