Hi all,

Unfortunately I didn't order my new GP with Blue&Me because I thought the normal autoradio would have a socket for an iPod (it said on the catalogue it would play mp3, which it does, but only if you have them on a CD - great for nothing these days!), and I wasn't interested in all the hadsfree stuff (and I'm not a big fan of Windows either).

Anyway, still, I would like to be able to connect my iPod to the Grande and I saw that Fiat have an iPod connector on their parts catalogue (50901536 in France, at least) and I was wondering if it is efficient and how does it work.

Is it just one of those radio trasmitters/modulators with an awful sound quality?

Can you operate your iPod from the steering wheel buttons with it?

Is it one of those "cassette-type" apparatus that you insert into the CD player? the picture on Fiat accessories page is quite mysterious, as it only shows the plug of the apparatus...

Has anyone got one of these?

Thanks, people!

yes it will let you control the ipod using the steering controls.

you plug it into the back of the headunit, and then into the ipod, and thats it. it isnt a modulator or a casette style adapter.

Do you know if there are any similar aftermarket devices at a lower cost? It sound a bit pricey to me 100 Euros for a connector!

i'm sure there are, but i couldnt say which type you need without seeing the port on the back of the headunit first.

can you post the address of the Fiat accessories page where it shows the plug?

By the way, do the prices of the official FIAT accessories include mounting, or is it just the parts?

Went to Fiat in Paris this morning. iPod connector cost a whopping 113 Euros without mounting!
Too much for a piece of wire!

the pic only shows the ipod end of the cable, not the headunit end, so i cant be sure which type of connector you would need if you bought a universal cable.

i dont think the price includes fitting, but i'm not sure so ask at your dealer.

ask in the grande punto section, they should know which type of cheaper universal cable you can use.

Its not just a wire, its an interface. The head unit connects to an interface and this connects to the ipod.
