Introducing the new and improved Shabash!

Ah my young Padowan - you are learning the art of anticipation. ;)

Thanks for all the nice comments today and on here guys.

As for the wheels I thought they would be contraversial but tbh they are my favourite bit. imho the MK2 HGT alloy really lends itself to the white and the photoshops we did for black and anthracite just looked awful. I've always been in 2 minds about the black but as soon as it was shopped it was clear it would not work.

guess also want to know what you got planned next! deff goning to the next meet now, nails or no nails! :)

p.s would love ti know how much wheels cose etc, email me and i wont tell promise!!

@ Tommy - Yes you were first but I was the first to do it without feeling the mockery of my peers. ;)

@Carl - hate it when things scupper you before events. I know how you feel as 3 years ago (maybe 2) my alternator went as I started my car up to leave for Brooklands and I had to get a lift with my brother. :( Thanks for the nice comments and yes, she does look clean. A friend I haven't seen for a long time said to me today that he thought they'd stopped making them and why had a I bought a new one! :)

As for who did what - I cut out and prepped the bumper ready for meshing, cut and shaped the mesh for the bumper and grille, modified and painted the marea handles (with Skater boys help to swap them over), prepped the grille and painted the engine cover, fuse box cover and alternator cover under the bonnet. I also repainted the rear inserts for the grille and the front badge in satin black to achieve a debadged grille look without removing the badge.

The body shop then resprayed the front bumper, cross member and slam panel (after jigging them), NSF wing, NS Side skirt, rear bumper, tailgate, grille, door mirror pod and refurbished the wheels. They also installed the mesh in the front bumper as per special fitting instructions from me to ensure a really flush fit with the bumper.

After I got her back I then added some new valve caps and some plastic wheel nut covers to give a really tidy finish to the wheels.

As for what's next, well the calipers will really need painting as they are the only thing letting the wheels down at the moment and I'm toying with some rebadging ideas for the tailgate and wings as I think if you have an HGT why debadge it. ;) After that I'm fairly happy to leave her as she is for now.

As for cost, the bodyshop was ..... well, I'm not saying but he (normally) charges £35 a corner for the refurb but I paid a bit less as I was having so much done. I know what you mean about the white but I think it's because they are BMW Mini white which is slightly cream that they work and that the MK2 HGT wheel is very flower-like and so lends itself to being white very well. I was talking to Skater-Boy and Speedy today and I think it's the design that makes it work. Not sure it would work with a different wheel. Best bit of advice I can give you is to photoshop as many different ways as you can before you decide.

Yep its all already been said, very tastefuly done not to much of anything, and i like the black mesh and badge on the nose nice touch.

And i agree Fiat is one of the very few cars that can realy pull of a yellow frock.

I would mabey consider a wheel change something sutle, kepping it fiat mabey 16" 17 at most but not the 17" blades.

Just my opinion,

but it is a cracker.

Cheers Scotty. Afraid I will never change wheels as I like the standard ones too much especially as they are white. Also, my philosophy with mods is do them if you have to and if they make life easier but not for the sake of it. Handles were perished, front end was stoved in, the bumper now only takes 10 mins to clean rather than 5 hour and the wheels desperately needed a refurb anyway so that's it.

i agree with that fill-loss-a-phie! :)

my handles have nearly had it too and i know what you mean bout the bumper mines a state anyway! just whish i had the money to tidy her up.

one thing i wasnt happy about was i took off the plastic things in the rain gutters to clean it properly and found that some of the paint ig missing!!!!! just wondered if you (or any1) has found the same! was thinking about filling them, my mums punto doesnt have them so why should i!! ;)

i think my wheels would work in white, can always paint them if they dont! ill try and find a pic so can get your opinon, i like the standards ones too but didnt have a choice mine came with the 16' speedlines! :)

ooo and cant tell from pics but what you not happy with??

Few bits and pieces that haven't been finished right. Theres the odd paint run here and there and some chips that have obviously been done while the paint was wet. Just gotta get her back in now.
