Bought some new LED bulbs to replace the filament ones that i had previously. Put them in and let there be NO light :( One of them is a bit loose but the other one's secure enough - would them being the wrong size mean they don't even turn on?

I also tried turning both of them round.

Multimeter picks up a voltage - old bulbs no longer work what's all that about? How do I test the fuse and also the polarity of the bulbs so this doesn't happen again? :p

It read 0.12 or something is that 12v or 0.12v? And yeah it only shows voltage in that position.

Led festoon bulbs do not have a positive or negative side. Biggest problem is the spring clip that holds the bulb in place is opened too much and won't make a good contact. Your meter reading of 0.12 volts means either the meter was set to 2000 volts instead of 20 or you do indeed have a duff supply feed.

Any idea why that would have happened? Seeing as the original bulbs were working 100% beforehand and now its gone - why would that happen if there's not even any negative or positive side?

assuming 0.12 volts to be correct, then it is most likely a transient voltage from the body computer or reverse current off the ground, either way the fuse could still be gone, why are you mucking about with a multimeter but you've not even checked the fuse box ?

you don't need to test anything just open it up and look for fuses that have blown, as long as you have eye sight then you should be able to do this without the aid of a multimeter

Haha my bad - yeah the fuse has blown.

So, how can I prevent this from happening when I'm replacing the bulbs again?

All works now fine with a new fuse cheers guys (clearly not rocket science). One last q though, is it cool that the fuse sparks a little when i put it in, I'm guessing to be truly safe you d/c the battery?

just remember the number 112 and you wont go wrong:)

ps dont park near anyones house tonight to confirm everything is tickety boo
thats what i do :D;)

Did you leave the light on? Ignition on? Stereo on(same circuit as interior light)?

A Spark is just the electricity been eager to get going - and jumping before full connection is made

Bad cause it causes heat and carbon marks, and sometimes a surge of power

Never had a fuse ""spark"" when been plugged in unless there was a demand for the fuse

I made sure everything was off, but a lot of things want to be on sort of even though they're off. Now that you mention it the stereo did wirr everytime I put the fuse in. By this i really just mean my stereo can be turned on without ignition or whatever so its ready to draw power.
