Immobiliser

Hi all,
Newbie here, i have a Ducato 2005 Motorhome, i have just put the main battery back on after taking it home to charge (mohome in storage) went to start it but the immobiliser will not switch off and so the engine will not start....!! Meant to take it in for MOT today but had to cancel it. The buttons on the fob work the alarm and central locking ok which indicate its working the flashing light on the dash comes on push the button goes off but engine will not start. Any help greatly received.

Have you had a chance to try the 2nd key?

Disconnect battery again for 30 minutes..and try again

Is thr Immobiliser symbol.. key : lock.. on the dash showing constantly ?

Hi,
I only have the one key for it, i am at home now so cannot check the display, but i will try disconnecting the battery again tomorrow, what would the lock display indicate? Sorry for being dumb but I’ve never had a problem like this.

The immob symbol should light for a few seconds.. then go out

If it doesnt light at all its NOT a key problem

What engine in this van ?

It’s a 2.8JTD, is there anything i can try ?

Mechanical things no problem, electrical not so clever

Was the engine spinning over at a good speed?

Any doubts..
Add a jumplead from battery negative terminal to engine metal..

Earth cables can fail internally..
So that adds a second earth route

Engine doesn’t turn at all turn the key and nothing, its as if i haven’t turned the immobiliser off, like the immobiliser is doing its job.
When I don’t press the button properly, i have to turn the ignition off, turn it back press the button and then she starts. But not this time.

Ive set and cleared the alarm, pressed the fob until the immobiliser buzzes and then flashes like its reset but still nothing. I’m stumped....!!

The Factory immob. Doesnt stop it cranking.. just cuts fuel


It might be your battery you charged isnt great..

Going back to it this morning, so it may be the battery then, i will try jumping it off the car

Quick update, tried everything suggested by everyone i could speak to with no joy.
Rang RAC, they are sending an alarm/immobiliser expert tomorrow to sort it.

Hi,

Alarm guy turned up, tried the key no response. He shook his head, tested the key, the fob all showing ok.
He then plugged his tablet in ran the checks, all showing green. Turned the key and away she went.
He said he done nothing but run the checks on it, so he thinks that this may have reset something but he couldn’t definitely tell me what was wrong.

Been up twice this afternoon and it started first time every time......!!

So all good.....until the next time.
