Technical I have sprung a leak

i have had a look and im puzzled, i cant see any obvious leaks but you can see the water at the back of the engine bay, underneath the battery tray and running down onto the (excuse my description), steering rod thing

the coolant is now only got a little bit of froth in it

the level hasnt dropped anymore, but i will leave it over night and see what happens, although i have been driving round in it most the day and there seems to be nothing strange with it

no it hasnt been raining, it must be coolant leaking though as the patch on the drive is still there - anyone know how to get rid of it , my mum will kill me :(

I had a similar leak.. Underneath ya airfilter jus under the rocker round the back of the engine, You will see to the left a bit a brass nut with a wire coming out of it.. this is ur temperature sensor.. Try plumbers tape or buy a new 1 if it leaks, I'd just buy a new 1 - pumbers tape will probly cause a mini bonfire in the enginebay.. (y)

yeah they a working, i only topped up the other day, but it seems to be quite low, hmmmm, i was thinking it could be washer bottle when i was having a fiddle, but never checked it

Dave, have you any idea where my mayo has gone? Just been to look at the water tank to see if it was frothy n looked in the oil filler while I was there, no mayo any more  does it normally disappear if you leave the car stood for a week?

you can get a build up of mayo if you only been using car for short trips from condensation, then if you give car a good run it goes.

The last time I ran my car was last week when the H/G went, it pumped out white smoke and had mayo in the cap so I parked it up and it hasn't been started since. But the mayo has vanished  and I don't want to risk running it until the head gasket has been done.

Hi,
If its dripping on the suspension arm, the only thing that far back in the car is the heater matrix, is this or the pipes leading to it leaking and running along the fire wall and dripping on to the arm.

Thanks

the coolant hasnt gone down since i topped it up yesterday and i done 300 miles in it the past couple of days

im thinking it could be washer bottle, but without taking the arch liner out i cant tell

my heaters are working fine, but what is the heater matrix

The heater matrix is a small radiator inside the heater box. It is part of the engine cooling system so gets hot when the engine runs, the fan blows through the matrix to provide heat inside the car.

The matrix is one of the highest points on the cooling circuit, so if there is a shortage of water the heater runs cold at any setting.

Cheers

Hi,
The heater matrix is behind that black fury cardboard type thing at the back of the engine bay, has two water pipes leading to it from the engine, next to the battery, it basicly the same as the radiator at the front of the car but a lot smaller(150mm X 250mm). It works by pulling outside air, with the blower fan, through the matrix, which raises the temperature of the air, going into the car.

Hope this helps

the cap was replaced a while ago as the rubber seal perished

i am thinking it is now the washer fluid bottle, cause i put some in and it comes back out, im thinking of puting in the pink washer fluid so i can tell the difference between the coolant and the washer fluid

i still havent checked the washer bottle

but have got a belt slipping somewhere cause its screaming if high revs :(

i think i have also got air in the system as theres a gurrgling sound, i had a similer noise on my uno too, and that had something to do with air in the system, but i wrote car off so never got it sorted

im guessing these are common faults, can anyone point me in the right direction as to what they might be :D
