General Hunting at tickover

Day 8 in quarentine in Spain. At least its given me chance to get this car finished. The engine has been stripped inspected and rebuilt with new gaskests,no new parts have been replaced. On trying to start the filter which is just before the pump, would'nt fill with fuel so i put a jar of petrol and it started. Now it hunts on tickover and can hear popping through the carb. I have checked the tappets,timing and points gap. Any ideas please?

I think i would look at the Carb next. Check the float is sound and correctly adjusted. Clean out and blow air through the jets and see if there is any dirt in there. When a carb dries out sometimes there is a build up of dirt.

Problem solved, it seems the 4 screws on the carburettor top were loose.
