One of my lines from my HU is dead, well and truely. Any ideas how to sort it out? (by this I mean has anyone fixed a similar problem) Are they ever worth opening to have a look?

Hmm...disconnect the cables that feed the affected channel and test them for continuity.
Continuity testing involves connecting one end of the line to a positive source and earthing the other end via a bulb or buzzer and checking that the line is intact (there should be a light or sound if the line is OK).
If that checks out, check the speaker works by connecting it to the opposite channel.
If that checks out, try the speaker and line on the other channel at the HU end, if that works, the HU has probably died to death and will need a repair!

Speaker works. Will test wires with a buzzer tonight.
