Technical How to work out your MPG in Excel

Here is a guide to working out MPG in excel.

Open a new spreadsheet and enter the folowing infomation.

Column Headings -

a1 MPG b1 Miles driven c1 Gallons d1 Litres e1 Pence per Litre f1 Pounds worth of fuel

Formulas/Data -

a2 =sum(B2/C2) b2 type miles driven here c2 =sum(D2/4.54) d2 =sum(F2/E2) e2 type pence per litre here f2 type pounds worth of petrol here

in F2 the cost needs to be entered without the decimal place eg: £25.81 is 2581
