Hi folks.
Daughters car has the all too common error codes P0203 ( Cylinder 3 ) and P0352 ( Coil B ), EML light was on and driving with reduced power. Errors

It had 1 new Bosch coil pack fitted at a garage in May this year, but I don't believe that cured it to be honest.

So, what have I done to check what's up - and does anyone have further advice please?

1. I've used multimeter to check the voltage across all four injector yellow plugs - and all giving roughly the same voltages.

2, I've checked the Ohms resistance on all four of the injectors themselves, just touching both pins on the top of the injector - all are about the same as well.

3. I've Listened to the injectors firing using a long screwdriver, and all - Tick Tick Tick - about the same on tickover and raise tempo when gently use throttle.

3. I've swapped over the coil packs ( switched A to B and Vice Versa )

4. I have ordered a new matching Bosch coil pack anyway so they will both be new, new HT leads and plugs and filters whilst I'm at it.

I'm all for switching an injector from cylinder 3 to cylinder 4 - or would you recommend a different cylinder to swap with?

I've never swapped an injector over, and see there's no guide on the site to help, but how hard can it be - I have a butter knife, mole grips and lump hammer in my tool box to assist. ;-)

All advice appreciated folks, I need to do this today if possible please.

I've JUST read member 'Superste' posts from Nov 2015 and will see if the videos help - but his is a 1.1 and ours is a 1.2 enginge - worth a try though.

Thanks

Sometimes a whole string of faults show up but many are symptoms of an underlying problem.

My wife's 1.2 threw up the engine fault warning light and had no power. Reading the codes showed a coil error and four (4 count em) injector faults.

I replaced both coils thinking one has gone it's partner wont be far behind. Cleared the faults and started the car. No warning light and when the code reader was plugged in - no injector faults.

Glad you got yours sorted.

The wiring from the ECU into the loom has been tampered with in the past and has a connector crimped into one of them, using a piece of thicker white wire ( which I don't think is standard, because no other wires I see are that thick and white, and joins a thinner purple ish wire with a red stripe - I think thats the POsitive feed ).
Shoddy taping up job anyway.

Took it for a spin, no errors show up. Daughter is out in it tonight on a 40 mile round trip so it's a road test as well. The new parts coming tomorrow so will fit them anyway.
HT leads and a coil and plugs, most likely the original ones.

It doesn't help when asking about the symptoms, daughter just drops in... and it takes about 6 seconds to change gear sometimes... eh?? what's all that about.

The car's a pigsty inside, the tyre pressures were non existent and washer bottle empty.
Is this just girls that do this or anyone else have boys that just aren't interested in maintaining cars once they pass their test.

All my life I've worked on cars at home - a lot so there's been plenty of opportunities for my kids to have got involved. My oldest boy has absolutely no interest at all but does, dutifully, check his levels and washer bottle etc. Youngest boy, a professional signwriter, has very good hand skills and could easily learn from me and do all his own servicing but doesn't want to "get his hands dirty". What's all that about son? don't you realize how much money you would save once your old man can't do it any more?

My daughter, Civil engineer, has always shown much more interest. I've done all the emergency "stuff" - wheel changing etc - with her and she just laps it up. Perhaps it's not surprising she doesn't want to do the really mucky stuff as she's got a family to look after. Mind you, unlike the boys, she can afford to pay someone to do it.

One really nice thing is that they all keep their cars nice and clean inside.

Stop pulling her out of the poo. Make it her problem

If your daughter cant be bothered to check her tyre pressure then just let down a front tyre. She will soon be complaining. Point out that she should not let it happen as its not the only one that's low. Then. Oh dear your tyre pump is broken. She will have to stay in tonight.
