Without knowing the full facts it's difficult to comment on. I don't trust news papers and have never seen a story yet in which I have been involved that's been accurate.

Often during the driving course you could be travelling anywhere from 0-140+mph but it has to remain safe at all times or as safe as you can possibly make it including checks on the car mechanically everytime it's used, and the golden rule of never driving at a speed in excess of the distance you can see to be clear and be able to stop within that distance.

Having been on a few motoring Forums most of the questions I have been asked have related to North Wales  ?

You really don't watch much telly do you? Richard Brunstrom is not the motorists friend! And yes, I agree the fella who was caught driving at 156mph shouldn't just be let off - wonder what would happen to anyone else caught doing the same speeds? As for visibility, it was in the dark so he couldn't exactly see for miles ahead of him.

No not really I see enough crap whilst out n about

I've heard of others getting off at speeds of 150 due to technicality's but as said I don't know enough about the case to make a constructive comment. But think it is up to the motor manufacturers to test the cars fully on test tracks.

see thats a specific, what you originally said was a generalisation, not all of us do have a criminal record.

Yeah, my mum was in town (oxford) a while ago and a bloke was arrested out side a shopping center bit, he didnt resist whatsoever and the 2 coppers threw him down some steps and beat the crap out of him. My mum saw it and tried to intervene and they told her to p*ss off and mind her own business. Shw wrote to the council etc nothing got done.

Another of my mates got thrown into a barbed wire fence and ripped his stomach open. This was at the same tme I got beaten up now im going to court etc and they've bin good about it, not great but alright.

also I have been arrested (another story) and I was in the police station all day and they were dead nice to me, said it was great to have a polite nice criminal 4 once!

So you can't generalise at all, police are just people, there are good ones and not very often you get the twisted f*cks!

I've seen 2 police cars (1 unmarked) stop a car on a roundabout (unmarked car in front of the stopped car, marked car behind. The officers had submachine guns drawn, and got the driver of the car out, lying face down on the road round the roundabout. Then they quickly searched his car. Then it was all over in a minute or two.

Would you want to be called to a disturbance in a pub, full of drunken people, with a fight starting to break out, with backup on the way but not immediately there, and you have to start to bring the situation into calm?

Not sure if this is still the case, but when my mate joined.. under no circumstances do lone police officers enter that situation. they should always wait until backup arrives...

Would you like to attend accident scenes where some child has been hit my a car, and because of there size has gone under the car rather than over the car, with all the ensuing blood and and other debris strewed around the scene.
Surely under these points, that particular officer had signed up for the force knowing he would have to do some gruesome things

Just one final thought, on average the number of deaths on the roads is at least ten times the number of people murdered in this country, now that in my book makes a serious crime, and that is something we are acheiving without trying to kill people, so if we went out with the intent of killing, just think what a massive figure we could muster.
Those figures count towards accidents from driving under the speed limit as well as over...and a variety of "road based accidents". So hardly a relevant comparison to murder cases.

You missed the point.

I'm not sure how many traffic police have points, but I have noticed that they seem to be far more intent to stop me for "driving around at night" or "using my brakes too many times" and slightly less intent on stopping people stomp on say, my brothers head in the centre of Hull...

On topic again, the guy who's responsible for speed cameras has like 6 points or something... which is pretty class IMHO

I got my points for driving 6mph over the limit. The day I got my stilo. On a road I drove every day, at around 3:30 am.
So used to Idling up this hill in my clio, it never occured to me, til i saw the double flash taht I was going over 30. It got me, they got me, i paid up. It's a sh!tter. but not much i can do.

Er, because they are traffic? (Roads Policing Unit rather) therefore I dont think an assault is part of traffic :p
Traffic in my area do a great job and get stuck into nitty gritty non traffic jobs when we are busy which is great.

i was very glad to see traffic turn up last week to a female cyclist who'd been cut in half by a artic, as well the time i pushed my emer button after getting surrounded in a goods yard by some very irate blokes

note to self, if youre gonna chase, take note of where you are going......

reminds me once over the air a traffic person went "yes we will put our prisoner into our *emphasis on* range rover" haha we dont go "yeah we will put them in our focus" show offs :p

I saw a big VW big off roader type car (touren?) a few months back not seen it since though!

They have got one of these over here....:(
