General How many Diesels?

Am I actually the only one on here with a diesel Uno?

Hmmm... They are a tad rare then!

Any of you owned a diesel Uno in the past then?

I've never known an Uno diesel in NZ (and, I've known a few Unos here) ;)
Seemingly a third of our members in the Uno section are Kiwis so that's a few of us who have never owned a diesel Uno.

I recall we did have a happy Uno diesel driver on the forum but I think the car was scrapped due to rust some years back.

So - enjoy your rare diesel Uno :)
As I recall, there were three types:
- non-Turbo 1.3 diesel, with similar performance to an Uno 45
- non-Turbo 1.7 diesel, with similar performance to an Uno 60
- Turbo 1.3 diesel, with slightly better performance than an Uno 70 and nice interior bits like a petrol Turbo

All of these diesels are relatively old technology compared to the JTD engines used in Mk2 Puntos etc. But I'm sure they will be an interesting drive compared to the petrol equivalents, particularly the 1.7 with the good torque.

OK, I didn't know Fiat Turbocharged the old 1300 Diesel engine, after all, this engine was only built during the early eighties, and only the first few Uno's got the 1300 Diesel engine, it was superseded by the 1700 Diesel, late eighties...
So the 1300 Turbodiesel version must have been one of the very first of it's kind, worldwide...??
I'm pretty sure not one of them ever made it to this country..!!

Speaking for myself, In Turkey diesel Uno is not common. Maybe 1 or 2 in 100 of Uno. ı think it is not so needed , because uno has already have low fuel consumption.

Mine is a 1.3 diesel built 2003. We have lots of diesel uno here in the philippines, so majority of unos here are diesel but are made into taxi :)
I dont think we have a trubo version here of fiat

Yeah I did spot the one on ebay... The only one other than mine that I've seen... Lol

Would't really recommend it though, finding parts is a nightmare... Granted the engine should be the same as one of the Tipos, but the ones with those engines are almost as rare as the Unos... I'm even having issues getting seals from motor factors... Tis a nightmare.

Not many people to ask for technical help either...

I spoke to hm the other day, apparently it was the same as the 127/8/Strada 1050/1300 etc engine but modified to run on diesel.

Right, the good old 1300 Diesel.
That engine was used in the first Uno's and Fiorino's, very lively engine, in fact it is the ancestor of the later 1700 (T)D and the current 1900 (JT) D engines.
Parts shouldn't be a big problem, as this engine was build until not to long ago in Brazil, and a lot of the later 1700 D parts are the same...!

Granted I may be able to get the parts shipped through a Fiat Main Dealer, but this is gonna end up costing a hell of a alot.

I'm currently having major issues trying to find just one rubber seal... So simple but not getting anywhere...

I'm after the dipstick tube seal gasket, it goes over the end of the dipstick tube before you stick it into the sump.

Also need a fuel cap seal...

My 2 local motor factors can't get hold of them, one can't even get hold of front coil springs...

I've tried searching for companies based abroad but the internet seems to be a mass of random rubbish...

Pete, what is the name of the main dealer you use (and town if poss)? It might be worth me contacting them and seeing how they feel about shipping parts to the UK...

Well, I'm sorry but that particular dipstick seal is NLA, or no longer available ....even for newer models...!
I've been looking for it myself as well, but no luck.
You have to make something yourself, which isn't very difficult, because there's no oil pressure to be hold by that seal..!!

Try www.tuynder.nl for parts, they will ship to the UK.
click on "Catalogus" and find your model.( it's all in Dutch, but it's pretty usefull anyway, look for the "exploded views" and part numbers)
