A very basic question but how does the car detect when a door is ajar? Is there a switch in each lock mechanism?
I never thought about it in all these years, until today our son told me the light kept flashing on while driving. (He checked each of the doors, but didn't think of the boot lid. Turned out that was not quite properly shut.)
When I went to investigate I had expected to find the sort of little plunger switches in the door frames that older cars have, but of course there are none. So I guess there must be a switch inside each door latch mechanism. Is that right?
