Technical Factory Option 41I "Bluetooth" How should it work?

Hi guys.

I have recently bought a 2009 Mamy. It has the factory option 41I Bluetooth. But there no sign in the car if how it should work. Google has virtually nothing useful that I can find on it. I read that there might be a module under the passenger seat, but I can see no sign of a module or where one might fit. The car has the multifunction steering wheel and the volume buttons work, but the phone buttons seem to do nothing.

Does anyone know how this system should work? And what I can check to see what's going on?

You need to pair your phone to the car via the menu activated from the menu button on the steering wheel

It only works with phone calls I believe not music

Hi there. Thanks for your reply. I don't have a menu button on my steering wheel, only a green pickup and red hang up button. Neither do anything. I do also have the volume and next/previous buttons of course.

Should be in the dash menu somewhere, never seen a many in person there fairly rare

My Panda has Bluetooth, which is an early type, not the later Blue&Me, and is operated through the standard radio. Initial setup is likely to be in Italian, so when it gives spoken instructions during setup, a bit of guesswork is involved. I think you have to get past the first Italian bit to change the language. I connected mine in 2010, when I first got the car, but soon after replaced the factory radio, so memory is poor. I think there were some instructions in the handbook.
You'll only have calls, no music or other streaming options.

Excellent! It seems that I needed to clear the old paired phones first. I had assumed that the stereo would be used for some of the Bluetooth system setup, turns out it's not. The key was to press both steering wheel phone buttons at the same time for more than 2 seconds then I could just pair my phone. The garbled Italian voice messages from the system didn't help much...
