I use Aldi car wash n wax. Wet the car from the top down with a cheapo sponge and lots of water, then before it dries rinse away with the hosepipe. Water in my area is so soft the scale in our electric kettle was dissolved way in a few months (no worries with water streaks.
) In hard water areas use rain water for car washing.
IMO the posh products dont make the car look any better but absolutely do not use any other detergents as many contain salt to help them cope with hard water.
If my car was new I would have the bumpers and bonnet wrapped with self healing anti scuff film. Not low cost but it copes with car park scuffs and stone chips.
