How do you change the aerial ?

Quick question on a r reg 1.6 sx100 bravo

How do you change the aerial , i thought it would unscrew , i can't find anything much about the aerial in the haynes except by dropping down the int light and unbolting the whole thing or is that the only way to replace it ( bit annoying as i can't put it thru a car wash as it is ?

screws off mate. might just be a lil tight thats all.

Do you mean the full aeria or just the screw in part?

no just the ( allegedly !! ) screw in part , i can't see where it unscrews and when i've tried before the little plastic thing at the bottom keeps popping off the roof !

At the end of the rod, there is a rubbery tapered section. Get a pair of pliers, protect the ariel with a cloth, grip the rubbery part through th cloth with said pliers and loosen it. You should be able to unscrew it by hand then. If you can't, undo it completely with the pliers. Smear a little grease on the threads when you put it back, then when you use a car wash, just take it off by hand. It only needs to be hand tight.

mine fell off down the m61 no problem at all - didnt even need a pair of pliers !!- thinking about replacing it with a rather stylish coat-hanger !!!. ( can still get radio four though so no real problem !!)

Mine flew off using a jet wash at work! Looks like a bee sting thing now! looks quite good and i never listen to the radio, just CD's so i am happy!!!cheapest mod i have done!

And there has been a few mod done!
