Hi. Just bought a TIM Superdash Tachometer and have no idea how to fit it. can anyone help? i have a fiat bravo 1.4S 1996

I dont think you will be able to as you will have to feed it into the ECU as far as im aware, if you manage, make a guide and post up here as lots of 1.4S owners, me included, are interested in having a rev counter

I second that motion, if you manage please make a guide so we can all follow and worship you :)

Amazing, another 1.4 owner looking for a rev counter o shift light...

Why do people want one so much?
I never needed one to know when to change gear, and surely its not a 1.4 for racing?

I dont need one, but when you do race people, which in my case is quite a lot, i would like to know how far off hitting the limiter i am, as i have done it before and its not nice. Also...

The 1.4 is a BEAST!!! lol

I WILL FIT IT!!!! IT MUST BE POSSIBLE. CANT BELIEVE IT WASNT STANDARD. EVERYONE NEEDS A REV COUNTER CUZ ITS IMPORTANT TO LISTEN AND SEE THE PROGRESS OF THE ENGINE. ALSO WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW FAR YOU CAN PUSH THE REVS!

Did it not come with instructions?

Peak power (and the point at which you should change gear) happen about 1k BELOW the limiter.

Did come with instructions. Not very clear tho. It tells you where to connect wires but getting access to them from the cockpit is a different kettle of fish!!!! dont know where there is a hole leading to the engine for wires to pass thru except for the glove compartment but that is over the other side of the dash! Whats the point?

Yeah that would be the logical thing to do. Just needed someone to suggest it! will try and cut a hole in the dash to mount the bloody thing. hope i dont feck it up! Ill let everyone know how i get on and post some pics. PS where is the "coil"? what does it look like?

You might struggle to get it to work if you wire it into the coils. They effectively use a twin coil system, so you may find it reads half your revs.

Firstly, make sure it works before you cut the dash ;)

If it does only take half the reading, can you not wire it into both coils? (I have no idea, just making suggestions)

Not really. If you join the coil wires together then you will get ignition problems.

It's the same problem people have with centos, the twin coil system doesn't lend itself to this type of ignition.

If you can find the rev counter feed from the ecu, it may work. Surely the 1.4 ecu will have an output for it, there are 1.4 models with rev counters?

So do the wires from the tachometer need to be run directly to the ecu only? What kind of connection will likely to be needed, a simple header to go on a pin or a solder job maybe? What do you think Tom?

This question has been around for so long it will be good to see someone fit a rev counter and have a guide for all to see.

you need to get someone with a service cd to email you the pinout config. i don't have one for the bravo unfortunatly

Think I will just go up to Fiat and ask them to fit it. Will watch what they are doing and post the instructions!
