How dangerous is Northern Ireland?

I'm planning a day trip there to make a purchase but this means going to two of the worst areas, Armagh and Belfast.

As a white brit travelling to these areas, obviously I'll have to be on my guard, but as large sums of money are involved I'm especially worried.

Are there any dos and don'ts? As a visitor is there a chance I'll find trouble if I keep my head down? Is there much incidence of muggings, general violence or abductions?
