Ok ive just ordered a Klifford ai106 alarm (i think thats the 1) Its the Muts nuts anyway.

Has pager - tilt sensors - glass sensors - microwave sensors - and most importantly - soleniods! (as well as other stuff)

But if remove the handles - which i am going to do - whats the best way to blank the holes and dish - i dont want to fill it with loads of filler - would welding be an option as on a door skin this could be very risky?

Any ideas welcome.

u have to remove handle. sand the area around the indent. weld a patch over it, sand it down again, filler it. sand it again, filler it and then go over with wet and dry, get it nice and smooth and then spray

re

yeah any good body shop should be able to do welding, gettin solenoids fitted and making sure they work reliable is my biggest worry!!

Re: re

how will you get into the car if you've got no handles?

i take it the alarm will open the door for you?

and then you use the side of the door to open it yeah?

will look quality if done, never seen it done before on a bravo

Re: Re: re

will look good yes but i think its very dodgie. im my opinion, cos if the battery dies u cant open the car cos no key holes and u got no handles either, i delocked my fiesta and when my battery died i had to go through the boot, and that was lucky i still had the key hole cos i was about to smooth it.....

I read about a good one (dare i say it) in Lax Power, which if your battery died, you can plug in a 9v battery in a hidden connector, which will pop open the door...

Re: Re: Re: Re: re

i think thats rubbish leaves it very open to theft, i've always read about people having to put bricks through their own windows to get in!

I'm just gonna leave lock on boot!

Already considered that 1

Sorted - the way im doing it i will have some jump leads connected under my front bumper - that way if the battery dies i will just connect the leads to a new battery - jump in and start up!

The only problem i may have is if the sytem goes wrong and for some reason the door wont open - i cant put a brick through the window as im having security film fitted!

Im not keeping the boot lock either - but my dad is a master mechanic so im probably going to have an emergency key hole under the wheel arch!

I dont know abouth that 1 though as it would still need to be electronic but if its on a seperate circuit the two cant go wrong at the same time. (touch wood)

Yes the alarm opens the door - its a four button remote that will:

1 - unlock the door
2 - pop the drivers door
3 - pop the pass door
4 - pop the boot

Im sorting payement tommorow and will hopefully have it fitted in a few weeks.

Fitting is going to be done by me and my dad and we are laso making metal boxes to protect the door linkages. Just to make sure. So no ruller down the window jobs either.

This car will hopefully be impeniterable so i wont have to worry when i replace the £2000 of stereo equipment that was pinched.

Post pics soon.

Ask Hels, she has no handles on her lovely motor now!

Re: Already considered that 1

I thought it was illegal to have no door handles on the car, you need to be able to open the doors from the outside, for example, if your car is in a accident, and for example you and your family are hurt and cant open the doors, how the hell do people get you out, they cant open the doors and it'll take them bloody ages to get through the security windows.

These vital minutes can mean life and death.

Sounds like your making a really cool car but your also making a death trap at the same time.

Maybe you should include a system where the doors open when the airbag or when the engine dies, im assuming your alarm has the anti car jack facility too.
