Hissing noise when accelerating??

I get a hissing noise when i press down very lightly on the accelerator pedal, but when i push it down further, the sound goes away.
its been like that for over a year, so im hoping it wont have done any damage?
its a 1.4 sx by the way

if its what i think you meen mine does exactly the same sounds ermm how to put it airey like a noise of air lol is this what you meen?

Let me guess, you've got an aftermarket air filter?

check the air filter is fitted propaly

tom, yes i do have an aftermarket air filter,lol
im presuming this is the problem?
is it damaging my car?

no its just sucking air in to the engine its normal

lol kool, i have that in my 1.2, i cant get the top bak on my air filter box properly tho, it sounds nice tho, leave it

If you can't get the lid on the filter box then air could be bypassing the filter, and thats BAD.
