My 2001 Brava 80SX 1.2 starts well when cold, though there is a little hesitation before it turns over. However, when I have been driving at motorway speed for a while, say an hour, it will not turn over at all. The battery is relatively new. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Do I need a new starter motor? Thanks in advance for any advice.

My car had this problem, same engine too. The problem got fixed by fixing another problem, it is a Fiat afterall!. Had to get a new starter motor and extra earth cable which sorted that problem, also a flicking temp needle.

But also heard it can be the crank sensor, but I would change all the obviouse possible causes on the ignition side first then see what happens.
