Is anyone else interested in High End Audio Equipment?

My system:

NAD C521BEE Titanium CD player
Roksan Caspian amp
Roksan Capian power amp
Mission Argonaut speakers(love em)
Cambridge Audio interconnect leads
The whole thing is Bi-Wired and Bi-Amped using Nordost Super Flatline MkII Speaker Cable.
LINN Bass Extension Speaker(Subwoofer)

Here's a video of me trying out an Isolation Platform I had made from 1 inch thick glass and sorbothane feet.

Basically I have A CD Player, Amp, Speakers and some fancy leads connectiing it all up.
Old for new insurance from the AA means if it all goes missing or up in a puff of smoke they have to give me £6500 to replace it with the same or its equiverlant. (y)

Mine's pretty ancient by now as some of it is now 25 years old. I have an Ariston (no relation to the washing machine manufacturer) RD80 turntable with a Linn S-shaped tone arm with a Linn K7 cartridge, although I haven't used it in quite a while. In fact the belt has perished.

This feeds into a Luxman L230 amp as does a Luxman CD player. I have a pair of Mission (can't remember the model number) speakers. I can't remember the maker of the leads but they were quite pricey.

In fairness, I tend to listen through headphone rather than speakers though. I can have the volume up higher.

I have a totally overkill amp and way underkill speakers - and my CD player isn't even connected :(

AMP: Yamaha DSP A2070
CD player: Marantz SLPG 590

Speakers are panasonic and have come from an "all in one system" my old pioneer floor standers have died, the mids and tweeters have started to crackle, I'd like to make a sub using the box from one with a new facia and using both bass drivers but no idea where to start LOL :eek:

I am moving in a month or so and will spend some time hooking everything up properly.

My Argonauts are now 22 years old and are still the best sounding speakers I have ever owned. I've had others but always revert back to listening to the Argonauts. Their sound qualiity is timeless and standing a little under 4 feet tall they easily rattle every door and window in our bungalow when at half volume. They're a little bright for some ears but I love em. When the kids stay over at their grans on a week end they get a serious dusting when we all go back to my place for a few after hours tipples.

Not as high-end as your stuff but I have:

Lounge:

Arcam Solo feeding a pair of Monitor RS8s

Kitchen:

The Lounge Solo feeds 4 x Kef 160QRs flush mounted in the

Kitchen Ceiling via an Arcam Amp

Bedroom:

Arcam Solo Mini feeding a pair of Kef 160QRs flush mounted in the wall

Bathroom:

The Bedroom Solo Mini feeds a Sonnance Speaker via a Russound Amp

:)

Your joking right?

I've heard a pair of RS8's they look and sound great. Connect them to the award winning Solo and I guess you have a very nice sounding system.

Again, the 160QR's sound amazing considering their size and how they are mounted.

Is it the Sonance Symphony you use in your bathroom? Very clever speaker design.

Your system is well thought out, was it all your choice or did you have help?

The RS8's are a really nice warm sound against the Solos brightness....We were going to go for the RS6s but when I heard the RS8s they won the day....

I built boxes behind all 6 of them to Kef's recommended sizes and they do sound really good with almost no sound leakage upsatirs...

I think it might be...It's a single stereo speaker and for the size of it, it sounds amaziing.

Well I knew very little about hi-fi equipemt and went to my local specialist with the intention of going for the Bose Lifestyle system, but whilst it looked pretty it sounded awful compared to the Arcam and a decent set of floorstanders....They basically designed the system and I fitted it....Although we were origianlly going for Kef floorstanders, but MrsP didn't like the colours they came in! :p

I guess installing boxes behind them helped bass reproduction to, did it?. Just out of interest, what size were the boxes and what speaker cable did you opt for?

I thought it may have been arranged by a specialist, a well matched spec.

Bose. :yuck: :shakehead:

Kef Reference 207/2's are the dogs b*ll*x. :woot:

I think the Kef enclosures were about 9" x 9" x 3.5"....

No idea what cable we used to the Kefs but it was fairly inexpensive as some of the runs were over 10m....

I think the cable to the Monitors was QED Silver Bi-Wire from memory....Again I couldn't afford to go too expensive with this as one of the speaker feeds had to span almost 8m....

One of the nicest speakers we tested were the Spendors....They sounded beautiful but I couldn't convince MrsP they were worth £1500.... :D

I used to have a pair of Acoustic Research AR 93s but they were quite large/tall and after Mrs. Beard kept putting plants and a table lamp on them I decided they had to go and I bought the Missions.

Do you know what Missions you purchased yet? Perhaps a photo, I might recognise them? I've had a few pairs over the years.
