We had already agreed that HID's are illegal without what you said is required mate ...

iv got the 5k pure white hid kit , got mine from ebay think theyre amazing and light up the roaad so much better, i dont see how theyre blinding either as they go no higher than the stndrd lights.... hid ftw IMO(y)

I'm all for HID's they look swish, but some are really blinding. It's because the reflectors aren't designed to manage light that is emitted from HID. It's really scientific.

Anyhoo, they may not go higher but the bulbs have no tilt to the element and the reflectors cannot control the amount of light so it may be the same 'height' but it isn't angled to the left as is a UK requirement. So stray light (which because it's so bright there is loads) goes in any direction and then blinds other drivers. Hid's also have to have self leveling so when the car hits dips and raises in the road the light always points at the same level.

Also using refraction the lenses HID's require literally cut the beam so when you drive down the road the edge if the light is very sharp compare to halogens or HID's in a reflector style headlight which is essential to stop the much brighter light blinding others.

However many road users have missaligned halogen lights anyway so your more likely to be blinded by them than someone with aftermarket HID's.

Thats just the reason why for whoever may not understand lol.

I'm sorry, but does anyone else think that the idea of breaking the law, just because everyone else does, is plain stupidity? Reminds me of these guys:

I have heard of people getting tugged by the old bill for these things. Some get lucky and wind up with a warning and notice to rectify within a given period. Then again, some plods will seek to prosecute. And God I can't tell you how much I am hoping that the police start getting more het up about illegal HIDs in the future.

What an ignorant reply.

So if as a result of your ignorance you end up taking a life is it ok because atleast your car looked good while you done it

Well said.

One issue that is over looked is geographical influences. Although OEM HIDs are affected by it, they don't suffer as much as normally correctly lined up, but if going up or down a hill you or another driver is always going to be in the beam of your lights when your going over the brow of the hill.

Halogens are bad enough for the second or two that this happens, but HID's, by they're nature being High Intensity, are so much worse.

The angle OEM HID's are set at is low enough not of this to be much of an issue except on extreamly steep hills, HID's fitted to OEM halogen projectors give a much more intense dazzel though.

TBH though, the majority of aftermarket HID installs are ok though if done with projector lenses. Its the plonkers that do it with reflector lenses that cause the majority of issues and DO Dazzel.

Hey,

Wonder if you can help me answer a few questions as was looking to do this conversion in my Panda 100HP?

What is the difference between the;
H4-4 Ultra 35w HID Conversion kits and Ultra H4-3 Hi/Lo Beam 35w HID kits

Or in other words what is the H4-4 and H4-3 and Hi/lo

Also for the Panda 100HP would you go Superslim or premium?

Cheers

Not sure to be honest...

All I know is H4 do both Hi/Low and H4 does Low H3 Does high seperate bulbs at a guess.

Thats fitted with projector lenses is it not?

Nice, just hope I never end up driving towards you at night!

I hope you won't be aiming for them MEP!! Then again, as you'd be blind, you probably wouldn't know yourself! :p I'm glad someone else hates these lights as much as I do (y)

I have light sensitive eye's so HID's are just an instant headache for me, as is any pleb driving with his full beams on, or a tailgaiting 4x4, dipped beams are bad enough :( seriously i've never been driving at night and thought to myself "hmm these lights are just not bright enough" even our our astra vans at work are perfectly ok HID's are just a load of unneccessary bullpats

Its like a bad circle really.

I need HID lights because I can't see because I'm blinded by other drivers, so I'll get HID lights and then join in blinding everyone else if incorrectly fitted.

Almost as bad as those with front fogs on when not needed. I get atleast 3/4 a night on the drive back from Norwich. And they all get what they ask for

Just the general concideration for other road users is none existant now it seems though. Really p'ees me off. Just like those that can't possition when turning right and block the whole road so others can't get by, and those that take up 2 parking spaces in car parks. :bang:

What is it with everyone leaving their fogs on? surely the name should tell even the thickest of people what they're for and the police round here have given up warning people :bang:

Have you tried tint-ing your rear windows? it looks stylish annnnddd restricts the light getting through just enough so that you aren't constantly blinded by the rearview mirror! :D If you are able to get to Haywards Heath to 'Solar Screens' they are good quality and at a good price!

And MEP i completely agree about all those drivers who just show absolutely no concideration for other drivers! I suffer slightly with road rage at time because some people are just soooooooooo annoying! people not thinking where they park is another annoyin one! And people driving with fogs on are just hoping it will make their car look that lil bit more sporty..:bang:

You can have a completely open road with loads of available parking and some idiot will park bang opposite or diagonaly to another parked car causing chaos.

But it's ok because they are outside their own home :bang:

But more cars have missaligned normal halogens than fog users so do you "give them what they ask for" too lol

I couldn't possibly comment

Luckily defective headlamps are not to bad around this area, although I have noticed some foglamps with the one up - one down fitment styling :(

I suffer slightly with road rage

You ought to see mine at times
