Right ive done it...i've placed a bid on a 51 plate yellow hgt abarth with 40k miles and fsh.....hope i get it for the right price now.....but thats not my question, ive been told the storys of some hgt being tuned to 200+bhp now what im wanting to know is how???? cost??? a list would be good, and a place in sussex willing to do most of the work as im a lazy lazy man

First off, I like the HGT as standard though more power is always nice to have. Shame thats pretty much not possible without more fuel consumption.

Ive had the head off my HGT and apart from smoothing the manifold joint the ports are really nice looking. Any digging about by an amateur like me would seriously mess it up.

The exhaust however is badly restricted with precats and short manifold. A tuned performance manifold and system would Im sure be the first thing to do then add some hot cams and ECU remap. That should see of at least £2000.

With any significant power hike it would deffo need a Quiafe differential and that's from £500. I dont know how tough the gearbox and clutch are, but chipped diesels can overwork the clutch so maybe that should also be uprated.

Then the brakes will need looking at. Finding a set that will give good power on the road can be difficult. Most uprated pads dont really work unless they are hot so be careful there. Complete new brake systems are megabux,

Another option is an Alfa TS 1.8 or 2.0 engine they are much the same

Novitec were doing turbo kits that took it to 205bhp but who knows if they still are.
