hi all, doing HG soon
will be replaceing the cooling system also - just for the sake of it really..

The car has never overheated but oil and coolent have mixed, compression is down, loss of power, water pump recently started to leak. HG has been gone for past year or so... Power loss (VERY recent, is too bad to continue using the car on motorway safely, i.e, 60mph-70mph time (overtaking) is too long, so i need to fix it.

I haven't got time to skim to head, can the HG be changed and all issue go without skimming the Head?

The HG was failed due to old age deteroation from outside in. so it started to break up on the outside of engine and has not reached inside and the gap in HG has just got bigger over time...

oil changed frequently to minimise engine wear with damaged HG

started work, engine internals appear in Very Good condition (y) - i may have been lucky here:D

Sadly, i'm waiting 1 more package to arrive, i cannot put the engine back together again without it(n)
And on top of that it's below 0'C here again:cry: makes handling tools very tricky and having to take brakes every 10 mins due to hands freezing:(
