My Fiat Panda Cross 4x4, 900 cc turbo, keeps on blowing coil packs and goes into limp mode. It is still driveable as long as you do not labour the engine and drives very slow.
The start / stop function does not work.
Advice please...

Hi Mike,

Thank you for reply.

Will take the car in for ECU / Fault finding and inspection.
Not sure if the problem is caused by the coil packs...I think it might be something else ???
Will keep you posted

What make are the coils, and are the replacements new or used. If you are buying used maybe you have got the working one of an old pairwhen buying used, and thus had another fail. Good makes and genuine parts are important.
Diagnosis is definitely the first step. I have noticed the coils have a rather odd way of connecting to the plug relying on the rubber sleeve to pull the coil contact onto the plug. Make sure the contact is sound or you could be getting shorting and another gap for the spark to jump which could cause problems. I think applying electrical grease, to let the coil grip the plug more easily may help improve the contact, and possibly stop a possible problem / cause.

Stop-start not working may be the early signs on your battery getting old. Its been discussed on hereas a regular issue. Worth searching both Panda and 500 forum.

Coils are we 100% sure, has it been confirmed, doesn't sound like coils, they rarely go unless the plug gap is too large which causes the HT back tunnel, symptoms don't sound like coils

Is the engine light on

Hi,
The coils are from Bosch. I ordered that from our dealer in Nelspruit, SA.
Not sure if that is the original coils?
As for the battery, I replace the battery less than a year ago. The battery is an ordinary battery and not the stop/start type. The battery centre advise me to disconnect the stop/start function.

Hi,
Yes the engine light, as well as the triangle light, is on

That's good a cheap code reader will help to point you in the right direction then

A £5 elm327 and a android phone is enough for this
