You should be able to use both APN's, but you'd have to swap whenever you want to read emails.

Had a quick chat with someone else from work about this tonight and turns out what I thought was free data anywhere is only in the UK therefore switched off elsewhere and only allowed in dire situations. I could have got away with a stupid phone that I can work easily after all
