Hi everyone.

I'll start by saying I've changed the cam and crank sensor like some say on other forums but it still not fixed.

It's a 1.3 panda diesel. And the problem is once it's all up to temp after a long journey it won't re start when you return to start it. But after half hour with the bonnet up it starts.

Dose anyone know what the fault is?

Cheers

There's no fault code and non lights on the dash.

Odd at it sounds, try the battery.
Diesels use a different starting stategy warm than they do cold.

Cold they go all out to get a start, use of glowplugs, looping fuel, slightly longer crank time before it fires the injectors etc.

They tend to fire the injectors a lot earlier when warm, this often means the rail pressure isn't as high as it is when cranking/firing cold.

They also route the injector fuel spill off differently, cold it will loop the return back to the pump, this aids the pump to reach a higher pressure quicker and helps maintain rail pressure, warm it diverts the fuel back to the tank to vent and will draw cold fuel from the tank.

Because of these things, it doesn't take much to bugger up a warm start.
A slightly lower crank speed due to a low battery often results in the pump not generating the required rail pressure to maintain an even idle (chugging) or fail to start altogether.

Why they suddenly start doing this is probably a mix of things.
Low or older battery along with injectors that may be starting to return a little more than they once did is probably a good bet.

You can test what I have written.
Warm the car up so it fails to start again, this time boost the battery with another car or starter battery pack and try it.

If it starts ok, get you battery checked and/or replaced.

It's an 07 multijet with 86k on the clock. Other than the crank and cam sensor nothing else has been done. We are the 3 owners. The problem just started with no warnings. Basically it only happens when worm. I did a 12 mile run the other day to pick a friend up and only out the car 5 minutes one I got back in to start it it just kicks like the battery is flat but after half hour it stars up no problem. Also when cold it starts perfectly.

So far only happens when worm doing small trips ie to town and work it works fine

OK,

at 7 years + 86K there is plenty of potential for wear + tear,

battery should be checked anyway..,

SO when it plays -up .. does it crank ( turn-over) SL o w ly

or does it seem at the normal speed.. just doesn't start + run..??,

It tries to turn over ones then just clicks like the battery is flat. It never cuts out when driving only if you turn the car off ones up to temp then try starting it again it plays up
