Hello new member here urgent help needed

Sorry to be posting for the first time on here asking for urgent help but i could really do with some expert knowledge.
We just bought a 51 plate Punto and its a little cracker but has one problem thats causing some real concern.
It starts fine and drives great but after about half an hour the power steering stops working?????
So we let it sit with everything switched off and once it starts up again i runs fine for another half hour or so then back to the steering failing
Can someone please point us in the right direction
We've got one garage saying it's the ECU and another saying we need to replace everything from the ECU to the steering rack????
Please please can anyone help

isn't it hydraulic pas on that?
if so make sure fluid is topped up then turn steering all the way full lock one way then all the way full lock the other way a few times. that should get rid of any air in it,
also check condition of belt and that it has correct tension

51 plate would be mk2, so should be electric PAS. (With city button)

I had a Brava and am a member of the FiatBOO site.
Never had a Punto before and this has confused the hell out of me.
So do you think i will need a new steering rack? or a pump then?

you read the guide? try battery conector cleaning and make sure it putting out the right power first. if that dont work take to a recomended fiat dealer and stick it on the machine
