Sounds like the steering column switch assembly to me, there's a multi selector switch in there.

Thanks tony, is the selector you are on about part of the steering lock/keys witch assembly? He said its a wire between the switch and the fuse box? We need a diagram to be sure though. If it isn't could someone describe what tony is on about? Thanks.
