In my old MK2 I had a Pioneer headunit which worked fine, my brother's just bought a MK2B and we've tried fitting my old Pioneer headunit into his MK2B except for some reason the headunit won't turn on. I've checked that it's not the headunit, as I've tried fitting both a Pioneer and a Ripspeed headunit to the car but neither headunit turns on like it did on my old MK2.

I've plugged the ISO block into the headunits, but there's another bit that plugged into the standard CD player that won't fit into the aftermarket ones. It's the block on the right in the picture below,

Could this have anything to do with it not working?

Thanks in advance! :)

i wud suspect that the fuse has blown that operates the radio, the extra block near the radio looks like steering controls but not 100%
How would I go about fixing the fuse?

The standard CD player works though, so how could it be the fuse?

On the ISO block or the headunit?

Tried that mate! :( Still doesn't turn on.

It should do if its done right.

I had this problem when I went from mk2 to mk2b. Have you followed the guide previously to move the pin in the iso block to make the stereo turn off with the ignition? I had done this and had to undo it for the above fix to work.

that spare block on the right is not needed dont worry

like volxstu said connect the bullet connectors up if that dont work then check the fuse like JTG0710 said

So I need to swap two wires in the ISO block rather than the two at the back of the headunit?

LOL it does get a confusing as the wires on both sides are called an ISO block. We are talking about the wires that come with the HU.

To clarify its the Iso block end of the wiring harness that came with the HU. Not the wires connected to the car and not the end of the wires that go into the stereo.

you have 3 lots of wires if you have an adaptor:

Wires from dash ...... Wiring harness ...... Wire on HU
car}========[ ..... ]==========[ ..... ]====[:::::]
.............................^
.............................Here is where you make the change

And if you have no wiring adaptor..............

Wires from dash ...... Wire on HU
car}========[ ..... ]====[:::::]
..............................^
.............................Here is where you make the change

Hope that diagram is clear enough.
