Head unit display

Hi just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to show the track info on the head unit instead of "MEDIA PLAYER". On the speedo binacle when a new track starts it displays the track name and then reverts back to the time but what ever I try I cant get the display on the main unit to show anything apart from media player? I am in a 500 and using a memory stick as the media source with mp3's if that makes any difference?
